What was Douglas MacKinnon thinking when he trash talked Mike Huckabee? He even said that he based his evil character in his new book on Huckabee.
What a great way to further divide the Republican Party! Honestly, he should be ashamed of himself.
It is pretty petty of him to make a big deal out of the rivalry between Huckabee and Romney when we have much bigger issues right now. Let’s face it, politics is a competitive game and politicians will say things that may not always be flattering of fellow politicians. Negative things are said by ALL candidates in ALL parties, because that is part of the game. Did Hillary say bad things about Obama and then turn around and support him? How many awful things have Republicans said about President Bush during this campaign?
I find it pretty ridicules that Mr. MacKinnon made a big deal out of Huckabee/Romney when conservative values are quickly vanishing in our country. We are fighting a very liberal media, education system, and a selfish majority that is against moral values. The only hope we have is to unite Republicans, not further divide them. Heck, the Democrats are united in bashing the Republicans and it is working out very well for them.
When it comes to Huckabee and Romney, I think they both would have made good Presidents and could have done a world of good for our current economy. I may not agree with 100% of everything they stood for, but the good far outweighed the bad. I would support either in 2012! Just like Obama’s ethnicity being irrelevant as an indicator of his abilities to perform as the President and Commander and Chief, Huckabee and Romney’s religious believes are also irrelevant.
One thing I will say is that Mr. Huckabee was an excellent and well respected governor. He is not the evangelical lunatic that Mr. MacKinnon makes him out to be. Also, he is the only Republican that speaks about proactive, not reactive solutions and he appears to really know what the middle class tax payers are facing. Huckabee spoke out against the worthless bank bailout bill, because it had no accountability and a lot of pork for the tax payers to pay. Now it is becoming all to clear that Huckabee was right. This bill has not helped the economy or the individuals who are on the verge of loosing their homes to foreclosure, but it certainly opened the door for major businesses to get a government handout at the tax payer’s expense. I am sure that the individuals who have lost their homes must feel real good about paying more taxes, so the bank executives can still make millions!
Do yourself a favor and learn a little about Huckabee.
Huckabee has spoken out about fixing the obesity crisis by focusing on preventative care and personal health responsibility, before more people get free health care at the tax payer’s expense. (Someone will have to pay for the free healthcare.) Huckabee has addressed the issue that the IRS system is broken, inefficient, convoluted, and needs revamping. He is the only politician that has mentioned the fair tax plan based on consumption of goods. He understands the challenges tax payers face in a week economy. Taxing us and creating government dependency will not help us!
Unfortunately, many people will not look at these important issues, because of people like Mr. MacKinnon using his influence to bash Huckabee. It is not just Mr. MacKinnon’s opinion about Mike Huckabee, because he is not alone. Many individuals in the public eye will use their power to influence others to on their opinion. They are too short sided to see the long term effect this have on this country.
I may not agree with all Republicans, but I will not speak negatively about them. I will never publicly degrade or smear their character. We need to unite and save that negativity to critique the Democratic Party, just like they do to us Republicans.
